Claude Routine

A workflow you've handed to Claude Code to run on a schedule, on its own, without you in the loop. The difference between asking for help and owning a process that runs while the desk is empty.

What it is

A Claude routine is a saved instruction set that a harness (usually Claude Code) executes on a trigger, most often a cron schedule. It reads its inputs, does the work, and writes the output to a file, an email, or a system, the same way every time. You set it up once; it runs nightly, weekly, or hourly thereafter.

Why CEOs care

This is where AI stops being a faster typist and starts being leverage. A one-off prompt saves you ten minutes today. A routine that drafts your Monday board update from last week's meetings saves that time every week, forever, and frees you from remembering to do it at all.

Example

Andrew runs a Friday routine: it reads the week's meeting transcripts, pulls every commitment made, and emails him the open ones before he logs off. He never starts it. It just arrives.
